Free Comic Book Day 2008 with Amber Benson

Like Christmas in May, FCBD is here once again for everyone who thinks comics are cool and everyone else who wants to find out. What could be better than free swag and big sales? How about free swag, big sales, and a celebrity guest or two?

Amber Benson, best known for her role as Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Adam Busch, known as Warren Mears also on Buffy, will make a Free Comic Book Day appearance here from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3. Amber is a director, a novelist, a scriptwriter, and a comic book writer. We are stockpiling as many Amber Benson goodies as possible for FCBD.

Amber will also be selling tickets to the screening of her new movie, “Lovers, Liars and Lunatics,” which will be later the same afternoon at the Rice Media Center.

Free Stuff. While Amber can’t stay for more than a few hours, we will be giving away free comics all day, from 10:00 a.m. until we close at midnight.

The Big Sale. The Big Sale will be all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Nearly everything in the store will be discounted, including comics, statues, toys, variant covers, silver age books, key issues, and games of all kinds.

Collection of Key Silver-Age and Bronze-Age Comics Just Arrived.

A small but eye-popping collection of key books just arrived in the store. These books will start going up on our Key Book Wall, starting with Hulk #181, Giant Size X-Men #1, and Uncanny X-Men #94. A few of the other books of note are: Green Lantern #2, Flash #120 (first team-up between Flash and Kid Flash), Superman #199 (the first race between Superman & the Flash), Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane #70 (first silver age Catwoman), House of Secrets #92 (first Swamp Thing), two copies of Daredevil #168 (First Electra), Amazing Spider-Man #122, as well as a big double-handful of other keys books and more recent first issues.

Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments

We have begun holding sanctioned Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments on Sundays at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $5.00 and each players gets a pack of Yu-Gi-Oh for entering the tournament.
